He came. The God of the Ages came to meet us exactly where we were. Our mess, our darkness, and our brokenness were met with the most beautiful news – Christ has come.
His arrival to the most lowly of places in Bethlehem ushered in the realization of our Great Hope. Emmanuel – God with us – would restore our hearts and forever break the curse of sin. While we rejoice in remembrance of this first advent, we also look with hopeful anticipation to the second advent: Christ’s return. We watch and wait with joy in knowing that He will come again.
It is this second advent that is the focus of Year C in the daily lectionary. A devotional for each week of the four weeks will focus on a Psalm and Gospel reading. Quick prompts for prayer and worship can be used to help guide your time with the Lord. A closing prayer, reflecting on the two Bible readings, can be used to round off the devotion time.
