The author of Ecclesiastes wrote about how there is a time for everything: mourning and rejoicing, planting and harvesting (Eccl 3:1-8). This passage reveals and affirms that while life is a continuous journey, it is comprised of distinct seasons. Just as there are celebratory and dessert seasons, there are also seasons of plenty and acceleration. During these seasons there is a special anointing for harvest, growth, and favor. The seemingly unimaginable and even unreasonable is accomplished and accomplished quickly.
Often, these seasons are answers to prayer. Prayer for ministry opportunities, favor with man, or breakthrough and miracles can all see answers during seasons of acceleration (Acts 2:47) (1 Kings 19). The goodness of the Lord is made evident in seasons of multiplication as testimony upon testimony comes up. The mountains and valleys of life are made even and grace abounds (Isa 40:4). Multiplication can also be a part of seasons of acceleration: what used to take four hours may only take one, and where a prayer ministry might be comprised of twenty people, another twenty might join (Heb 6:14) (Ps 107:38). Testimonies, opportunities, and instances of multiplication are often a part of seasons of acceleration.
The power of answered prayer and multiplicity is significant; however, these things are not the purpose of acceleration seasons. These seasons are designed and carefully ushered by Holy Spirit to draw our hearts closer to the Lord. Seasons of acceleration do not negate or minimize the importance of seeking His heart. The Lord’s desire is that we would be with Him where He is (Jn 17:24). As such, encounter with His heart will always be paramount; we must not forget our First Love (Rev 2:4). This means that there are just as many opportunities to encounter the Lord’s heart during seasons of acceleration as there are during dessert seasons. It is important that the gaze of our hearts remain fixed on the Son and that we remain focused on stewarding the assignment that has been given to us (Song of Songs 1:5) (1 Cor 4:1-2).
This is particularly true during seasons of acceleration. When blessings and growth come rapidly, walking in wisdom is essential. Without wisdom and guidance from Holy Spirit, oversights or poor decisions can be easy to make. We can, instead, make decisions and act out of wisdom, grace, and faith by positioning our hearts decidedly in the secret place (Prov 2:7) (Col 4:2-5). Indeed, the purpose of seasons of acceleration is to draw us closer to the Lord. Our hearts grow and are repositioned in significant ways during these times.
Ultimately, we must be aware of the time and season you are in. Seek the Lord in every season, Dear Saints, including seasons of acceleration. Enjoy His blessing, goodness, and faithfulness; let those aspects of His character draw you deeper and deeper into the secret place.
