There are few things that I find as exciting as a good used book store. Not only are they treasure troves for old and out-of-print titles, it’s also possible to find great deals on current titles, too. And so, I found myself – like I so often do – wandering among the tall wooden book shelves of a used book store last weekend. After checking out the classics display and browsing through a shelf of cookbooks, I wandered over to the Christian section.
I rounded the corner, several familiar book covers immediately caught my eye. Many of my favorite reads had a spot on the bookcase that was full of great titles, renown authors, and a wide selection of theological topics. A closer look at the books got me thinking about how grateful I am for the authors who have humbly sat before the Lord and worked diligently to create helpful resources for other believers. Reading (or listening) to the stories and wisdom of other brothers and sisters in the faith has been both encouraging and edifying in my journey.

While I could wax poetic for hours about books I’ve read or authors that I have been challenged by, I’ll exercise some self-control and simply share a few of my favorite books. Hunting for these titles in a used books shop or borrowing them from your local library would be a great way to find them. For simplicity’s sake, though, I’ll include an Amazon link along with the ISBN number. You can also find the full list on this GoodReads shelf.
